If you go to Australia for vacation you may well end up buying enough to remember your visit there to need edge protectors to protect it during shipping. You might even need jumbo edge protectors or other custom packaging solutions depending on what you purchase. Be aware that the country has some unique customs while you are there though so that you are able to stay abreast of what is going on around you. Even though Australia uses English as the primary language, they still have their own slang and what they consider proper.

Because the country sits on a continent to itself all sides are bordered by water. To the west is the Indian Ocean. Across to the east is the South Pacific. North is the Coral Sea, and south is the Tasman Sea. Between Australia and Indonesian islands is the Arafura and Timor seas. It has a lot of beaches but one should not assume that only this marks the country. The interior has vast areas of semi-arid landscapes both cleared for grazing and agriculture and covered with native forests. The country is nearly 3 million square miles in size, with most of the population in Victoria and New South Wales.

The climate ranges from tropical to temperate, in reverse of most of the western world. By this, one should infer that the summers are in December -February (the rainy season) and winters are June-August (the dry season). At least this holds true for most of the country. Because of the long settlement time of the area and how it was discovered by western society, many place names reflect a mixture of languages. Dutch traders first located these shores in the 1600’s although thousands of years of Native occupation by those who had come from Indonesian islands would also leave a mark on place names.

Although English speaking overall, Australia’s cultural mix includes the original native peoples, deeply settled white families with English and Irish roots, and successive waves of immigrants from around the world. This makes the urbanized coastal areas to be highly multicultural in flavor. While the indigenous population does have historical tales about being displaced, they are perhaps among the most respected native groups in the world, with vast tracks of land with traditional sacred meaning being set aside for them.

So while one may freely roam across most open ground, as long as they don’t snap pictures of the indigenous people without asking permission first, and buy many things in the country (so many that they may need edge protectors to protect the boxes during shipping home), one should always remember that respect will take one far. That is a form of protection that not even jumbo edge protectors or custom packaging solutions can provide. Along this line, learning to respect nature and the unofficial requests of the native population in regards to personal safety while on their lands will garner increased respect in return and you might even leave with a priceless blessing.

If you are going to Australia there are four cities that you must add to your itinerary. This might be difficult because there is so much to do but you must at least try to make it to one of them. The four top travel cities in Australia include Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, and Brisbane.

Sydney Australia is known for being right at the water. You can enjoy an amazing harbor by the bay. There is a ton of things to do while you are there which include the opera, theater, and ballet performed at the famous Opera House. If you go during the holidays you may enjoy the artificial Christmas trees lining the streets of The Rocks, which is the harbor side quarter. Many things to do include kayaking and various other water sports, visiting the sea-sculpted cliffs, take a ferry, and much more. Not only are the artificial Christmas trees amazing but you will enjoy the bars and restaurants with the amazing nightlife but you can take day trips and enjoy the amazing city.

Melbourne is another city in Australia that you have to travel to if you love to shop. This city is well known for the fabulous food, art, and their shopping precincts. There are tons of cafes, bars, boutiques, and art spaces throughout the city. The Fitzroy is a great place to go out dancing. You may want to sit and enjoy the sunset over the St. Kilda promenade or even go to Federation Square. If you are looking for multicultural foods then you may want to visit the sporting grounds for a bite. Whether you are shopping for a Christmas wreath or want the finest foods you will find it in Melbourne.

If you are taking a vacation to Australia and really interested in the history and culture then Canberra is a city to add to your itinerary. This is the nation’s capital where you can learn about their politics by visiting the Old Parliament House and the one that stands today. The National Institute of Sport and Science will teach you about the sporting heroes of Australia also. One thing you might find intriguing is watching the scientists at the Questacon make lightning. Canberra is a city full of festivals and cultural events that tourists always love to experience.

If you are interested in the Aboriginal history then you may want to travel to the northern territory of Australia and visit Alice Springs. Here you will find the heart of the Red Center where you can enjoy the plains in many ways. Many people enjoy hot air balloon rides over the ranges while others like to ride bikes, join a safari, and even hike. There are many iconic attractions that you cannot miss which include the Kings Canyon and Uluru-Kata Tjuta.

When you travel to Australia there are many cities that you must add to your itinerary so you can truly experience what the country has to offer. Don’t think you can make it through seeing everything within just a couple of days.

If you are planning a vacation to Australia there are many things you need to know. Many people forget about the differences with other English speaking countries until they get to their destination. Many of the differences you might consider include electricity, the weather, money, and much more.

The electrical outlets used in Australia are most likely not going to be what you are used to. America uses 110 outlets and most of your appliances that you want to take with you when you travel are not going to work. This means your hair dryer, curling iron, electric razor, and anything you are accustomed to plugging in the wall. You will need to purchase adapters or a voltage converter for these items. The best way to save time is to go to a store in Australia and just buy a new curling iron and hair dryer when you get there. You also might want to pick up a few candles too. You will need an adapter if you want to play with the firefox extensions on your laptop in the hotel.

The weather in Australia is not the same as most countries. You can enjoy wonderful temperatures in two different seasons. The summer season is very wet and rainy while the winter season is very dry. The seasons are also opposite of the United States so you must plan accordingly. When you pack cloths you want to pack lightweight clothing to wear. This is usually suitable for year round wear. If you are traveling to the southern side of Australia you want to pack sweaters and warmer clothing for the evenings during the winter months. You might pack similar if you were going on San Diego Cruises.

The money in Australia is not the US dollar. However, it is treated the same as the US dollar as far as 100 cents is one dollar. There are facilities you can change your money when you arrive to the destination. It is usually recommended you travel with traveler’s checks because they are protected if you lose them or if you are robbed. Also, Australia will usually accept traveler’s checks. You don’t want to arrive from the airport and be immediately stranded because you do not have the right currency. Most of the airports to have currency exchange facilities though.

When you travel to Australia be sure you check the currency laws also. They have strict laws prohibiting weapons, wildlife, firearms, drugs, plants, and more. There is not a limit to the amount of cash you take out of Australia though. However, you must report any amount of money over $5,000.

If you are traveling to Australia on vacation it is important to be aware of many of the different laws and lifestyle changes that exist here. You will need to be prepared for the electrical issues so you don’t set a fire in the hotel or ruin an outlet. You don’t want to have to pay the hotel a hefty amount of money one your first day. Also, be aware of the exchange for currency because they do not use the same money as other countries.
